Liberty Walk, known for their outrageous and aggressive full body kits, have never been shy to take on cars outside their usual spectrum. In a similar sense, Race! South Africa have the same fearless quality; bravely cutting up, fiddling with and tweaking super cars that most people would simply bubble wrap and leave untouched in the garage.

You can only imagine then, what happens when these two forces combine thanks to one very special Ferrari 488 GTB…

The powers that be decided that the twin-turbo V8 Italian stallion’s stance was not aggressive enough to match its performance, and thus a full LB Walk kit was ordered from the mad scientists in The Land of the Rising Sun. After an anxious wait, the kit arrived and the itchy fingers in the pristine Race! workshop got stuck in, tearing open the packages from a far.

The kit’s most noticeable component is arguably the massive over-arches that dominate the side profile of the car. They render the car’s overall shape rather video game-esque, but as with all of Liberty Walk’s creations, the arches somehow meld with the lines of the car and manage to look as if they’ve always been on the car.

While the LB Walk kit is the most prominent feature on the car, it is by no means the only mod fitted by Race!. The Ferrari was also fitted with accents of carbon fibre, including a CF front splitter, CF sideskirts and a CF rear diffuser to assist in improving the aerodynamics of the already low-slung masterpiece.

A slightly brash duck-tail rear wing was fitted to keep the insane Forgiato wheels firmly planted on the tar, aided by a complete reimagining of the suspension setup, replacing the stock system with a JRZ RS Pro coilover system. Not only does the JRZ system provide extreme stability at high speeds and under extreme braking and cornering, but also includes a variable ride height system, allowing the driver to ultimately decide at what height the car performs best.

Race! South Africa can be summed up in one word when it comes to their fantastic builds: details. The Race! workshop took this ethos to the next level with the 488, adding a custom touch in the smallest nooks and crannies of the car which ultimately tie the entire car together. From tinting the taillights a cherry red, to covering the roof in a gloss black vinyl, they had a vision in mind and set out to achieve it in typical Race! style.

Only at a workshop like Race! SA could such wild modifications be carried out on an iconic supercar and yet the end result looks as if it could have been endorsed by Ferrari themselves. Their expertise and level of workmanship is second to none, and I for one cannot wait to see their next project!
